My Journey
When I started teaching, I was eager to inspire young minds and make a difference.
My plan? To help every child thrive in reading and writing.
YEP – I was passionate, determined, and maybe a little naive. I thought I had all the necessary tools.
Still, when I stepped into the classroom, I quickly realised my teacher training hadn’t prepared me to teach reading effectively—especially to children with dyslexia.
I didn’t understand how the brain learns to read, and I had no idea how to identify or support struggling readers. Watching kids fall behind, despite my best efforts, was heartbreaking.
That realisation changed everything for me.
I threw myself into learning everything I could about teaching reading the right way.
I became a Certified Structured Literacy & Dyslexia Interventionist and discovered how evidence-based strategies could unlock the world of reading for struggling learners.
Now, I use these proven methods to help children overcome reading challenges, rebuild their confidence, and discover the joy of reading.
Why I Do This
Every child deserves the chance to feel confident and capable in their learning.
For me, the best part of what I do is seeing that aha moment—the moment a child realises they can read. That spark of understanding and pride makes all the hard work worthwhile.
I specialise in working with children who find reading daunting.
